Fresh from the Market

I started by buying a fresh black pomfret fish from the market near my place. I cleaned it with rock salt and made some cuts on the fish to insert the cutted ginger. Yes, you read that right – ginger! It adds an amazing flavor to the fish.

Preparing the Fish

After making the cuts, I inserted the cutted ginger into the cuts and stomach of the fish. Then, I sprinkled some spring onions on top of the fish for extra flavor. Now, it’s time to steam the fish!

Now, it’s time to make the sweet and spicy sauce. I took a hot pan, added some oil, and sautéed all the herbs (spring onions, ginger, and garlic) until they were soft. Then, I added the soya sauce paste and a little red wine vinegar. The result was a sauce that was both sweet and spicy – perfect for the steamed fish!

Assembling the Dish

Finally, I poured the hot sauce over the steamed fish and… voilà! My Steamed Pomfret Fish with Sweet and Spicy Sauce was ready!
